Our Seniors
Meet the Senior members of Bill Foundation. These dogs are looking for a comfortable place to live out their golden years in dignity and the warmth of the sun.
During our regular trips to the shelters we often come upon a senior dog who has been callously left at the pound. Perhaps their owner died and the family didn't wish to keep the dog or financial circumstances made it impossible for them to remain at home. For whatever reason and through no fault of their own, these dogs have been abandoned at a time in their life when they need a secure home the most. It takes a very special person to open up their heart and home to God's most helpless creatures. Can you help and take one in? If you can find it in your heart to give these special souls a place in your home they would return the kindness ten fold with love.
Meet the Senior Dogs available for adoption from Bill Foundation.
Domingo Domingo is an 8 lb. Chihuahua who had a rough start but is now ready to find a loving home. From the way Domingo reacts to certain noises and movements we are sure he was abused, so it takes this little guy some time to warm up to people and trust them. Once he feels safe though, he’ll be your best friend and protector. DoDo loves lying in the sun, giving kisses, snuggling on the couch, and going for walks. As well as being house trained, Domingo has been through obedience training and loves to practice his skills. Domingo must go to an ADULT ONLY HOME and he would probably be happy either with another small dog or as your one and only. He has met cats but didn’t seem interested so we think he would be OK with a cat sibling. Domingo occasionally suffers from seizures and takes a low dose of Phenobarbital to help control them. Don’t worry though they don’t slow him down a bit and it’s not expensive to treat at all, a $15 dollar prescription lasts about 2 months at his current dosage. He is your typical Chihuahua – little dog who has a big dog attitude! Domingo is a very special little boy who deserves a very special home. To know him is to definitely love him!
Guido Guido is a male Chihuahua, about 9 years old. He is very sweet and quiet. Guido loves to be loved and is very happy to sit in your lap or cuddle in bed. He likes human attention and gets along very well with other dogs and cats too! Guido is a bit fearful of quick movements, like waving your hand in front of his face, but he is getting much better in his foster home. He seems to be housetrained! We will only consider placing Guido in a home without children and with someone who has experience with dogs.
Peppermint Patty Peppermint Patty is an adorable and charming Maltipoo (Maltese poodle mix.) She is probably 8 to 10 years old. She is a very sweet and friendly dog, very low key easy going! Patty is super with other dogs, probably great with cats too! She is house-trained and very well behaved and not at all destructive in the house. She has a gorgeous non-shed, hypo-allergenic coat. She would be an ideal companion for a senior adopter with family support. Patty is in the beginning stages of renal disease. She is a happy go lucky survivor. Whoever would be blessed to have her for even a few years would be a lucky person or family indeed and has good quality of life yet to give. She has the gift of giving her adopter a life full of joy and appreciation of the moment.
Rosemary WHAT A CHARACTER! New rescue - lively, Pommie girl who is a little rolly-polly! Should be around 5 or 6 pounds at ideal weight. According to our vet, she's about 12 years old. Hard to believe when you see her in action: standing on her hind legs begging the way Pommies do, whirling in a circle, running ahead when walking, interested in everything! In short, she is very active, high energy, and does not act in the least like a senior. Her blood work is normal, her heart is sound. Probably house-trained . Mostly white face, mostly black body. Rosemary is currently in a long term foster home where she can enjoy life.
Costco Costco is a handsome red Pommie, about 9 lbs, and probably 10 to 12 years old. He was found in horrible condition in the parking lot of a Costco (hence the name!) Costco gets along well with other small dogs and cats. He's shy at first but you will soon see that he has a very playful and sweet personality that is just itching to come out. Once he knows he can trust you, he will follow you everywhere and will turn on his back so you can rub his belly. He's very quiet for a Pommie and only barks when he hears someone outside but his bark is fairly low pitch so it's not very loud.
Francie Francie is about 8 -10 years old and weighs 26 pounds. Francie is a kick. She is the comedian of her foster home. Even though considered a senior, this girl is far from it. She loves to go on walks and still runs with the pack.
France should not be placed in a home with young children but gets along with other dogs and cats. She is a very low maintenance dog and perfect for a first time owner.
These dogs make wonderful companions for a quiet lifestyle. Don't give up on them they have a lot of love left to give.
In certain circumstances The Bill Foundation will continue to pay for required medical attention for preexisting conditions.

Senior Successes
Below are a few of the Seniors who, rescued in the nick of time, have gone on to start a new life.
Floyd How cute is this guy. What a treasure. This spunky little Chihuahua was rescued from North Central. Little Floyd is a sweet, 11 year old, 5 lb. Chihuahua and what a face! Congrats on your new forever home Floyd.
Munchkin We are please to report that Munchkin has been adopted and living with a house full of Chihuahuas! A miniature Pom, perfect for your purse and to take along with you everywhere. He weighs only 3 lbs! This sweetie loves everyone and other dogs (in fact he loves to run around with them). He is very quiet and housebroken. He came to us with a hair loss problem due to neglect. He now has a clean bill of health the hair has grown back just fine.
Emma Although 6 years old, this purebred black lab was turned in by her owners because she was too energetic. But she hung in there and now after several months of being boarded and then foster care has finally found her new home. Such a sweet girl we hope she has a long and happy life.
Kent Kent is such a character. He wandered off from his yard one day and his former owner never searched or claimed him after he was found. This is one smart poodle. Though blind, he taught himself the dog door. We think he may be able to see shadows. He loves cats and in his current foster home, adores Ki'Tan the cat especially when she knocks the treats off the counter for him.
