Diamond in the Ruff:
Our Bill Foundation Experience

By Carrie Friedman LloydBuffy then

We were originally just looking for a pal for our maniacally playful beagle. We had no idea we'd meet such a special soul when we visited the Bill Foundation's website. I scrolled to a photo that showed a tangle of fur and underneath, the terrified, emaciated face belonging to the cocker spaniel we now call Lila. We met her, the beagle met her, and it was love at first sight. The Bill Foundation took care of everything – her shots, her bath, having her spayed– and even delivered her to our home and helped all of us acclimate.

It took Lila a couple of days to adjust to her new surroundings and her new beagle brother. But by the end of her second week here, she was spooning him on the couch while we watched the Superbowl.

The best word to describe Lila is grateful. She lives to please us and loves her belly-rubs. She immediately took to her obedience classes and arrived house-trained (has never had an accident!). When she wags her tail her whole body wags along with it. Her lips form a natural smile. She loves every adult and child she comes in contact
with. Just as she doesn't take us for granted, we don't take her for granted: every day we marvel at the gift that is Lila and love her more than these words can express.

I cannot believe this healthy two year old dog was ever given up in the first place, or could have withered away in a shelter. The Bill Foundation found and rescued this perfect little creature who is warming my feet as I write this.

For all of this, I am eternally grateful to Bill Foundation.
