Gracie's Legacy

I am on a personal crusade to get the word out about the dangers of antifreeze. Please pass my beloved Gracie's story along. Tell everyone you know about the dangers of this sweet tasting killer. If we can save lives both canine and human it will be a testament to her memory.

This affects so many kids and pets every year and I never knew how deadly or prevalent it was until I learned the hard way and lost my precious Pommie, Gracie, who tragically died after ingesting a single lick of anti-freeze from a puddle of water in a driveway. That was all it took. Please read this, take it to heart and forward it on to as many people as you can reach. This message must be heard.

WARNING!

ANTI-FREEZE CONTAINING ETHYLENE GLYCOL, THE MOST COMMONLY SOLD ANTI-FREEZE ON THE MARKET, WILL KILL YOUR PETS AND CHILDREN IF CONSUMED.

I lost my young, healthy, beautiful dog because she drank less than a tablespoon of water from a puddle in a neighborhood driveway that contained ethylene glycol . She died the next day.

HOW DOES ETHYLENE GLYCOL KILL?

  • Over 90,000 pets and 4,000 children ingest anti-freeze annually from driveways or puddles.
  • It only takes a small amount, such as one lick, to kill a pet or seriously harm or kill a child. If undetected, death occurs within 36 hours and nearly 100% of pet poisonings are fatal.
  • Anti-freeze is hard to detect because it is colorless and odorless. It is also sweet to the taste, so kids and pets are attracted to it.

TAKE THESE SIMPLE PRECAUTIONS

  • BE CAREFUL. Watch your pets and children around puddles or water outside. Pets that drink or walk through contaminated water and lick their paws will be poisoned. Children who drop a toy, pick it up and put it in their mouths will be poisoned.
  • USE NON-TOXIC ANTI-FREEZE! Check your cars and make sure your anti-freeze does not contain ethylene glycol, the most widely sold anti-freeze. If it does, change it. There is an alternative, that contains propylene glycol, that is non-toxic and can be found at most car dealerships, repair shops or auto parts stores.

Do it for your pet, and for Gracie Belle.
