Here Come the Grooms

Angie 1Back in 2004 one of our volunteers rescued the beautiful Angie (then Bessie-read about her rescue) from the streets surrounding the Burbank Airport. Little did we know at that time what a wonderful life awaited. Angie had just given birth to puppies, and while we searched for the puppies, unable to find them, we took Angie and placed her in foster care. Almost a puppy herself, we nursed her back to health and slowly but surely she regained her figure and her spirit. Once she was ready to attend the dog fairs, it wasn't long before she met the soon-to-be men in her life, Richard and Brian.

It was love at first sight - literally. It was as if she knew they were coming. You can still see it in her eyes in her adoption photo. At the time Richard and Brian were having their house remodeled so it was to be a few days before Angie could join them in their new home. Impatient to be together, the two prospective fathers made play dates and eventually could not bare to be seperated from her and she joined them at their almost redone home. Bill Foundation kept in touch with them through the years, a photo here and there but in the last update card from them were we surprised not only to find that they had relocated and moved to the desert but had gotten married and that the now unbelievably gorgeous Miss Angie was their "flower girl."Angie 2

At the time, marriage for them was not yet legal in the state of California, so their ceremony was held in Vancouver. The guys told us, "As excited as we were to be getting married, we were heartbroken that we wouldn't be able to take Angie to Canada with us. So, we dressed her up as a flower girl and framed the photo. We took the photo with us to Vancouver. We prominently displayed it at the entrance to the reception so Angie would be with us. We couldn't fathom doing it without her presence somewhere. The frame said, Our Flower Girl."

Richard continues "She was such a good girl. She would hold still with the flowers on her head until we snapped the photo." A true Hollywood girl always knows how to pose.

Bill Foundation is always thrilled to hear stories with happy endings and this is certainly one of them. Often we wonder about our previous rescues and how things have worked out for them. That's why this issue is dedicated to all those dogs who found those happy endings (and wrote in to tell us about them - see Where are they now?)

Congratulations Richard, Brian and Angie.
