Fairs

Bill Foundation is pleased to announce they now have a monthly valley adoption fair. For years BF has had their adoption fairs in the Beverly Hills area but all that was about to change. 

Starting in June, BF in partnership with Rescue Train, kicked off a monthly adoption fair at Moorpark Playground Park at the corner of Laurel Canyon and Moorpark in Studio City.  Not only was this an additional opportunity to show our rescues in a new area, but was also an opportunity to feature them in a new light. 

It was decided that the Moorpark Adoption Fair would be a cageless event. What this meant was each dog would have an individual volunteer who would stay with the dog, allowing them to remain crate-free. BF felt this would allow the dogs to be relaxed and perhaps show their true personality. 

While our Santa Monica adoption fairs require the dogs to be in crates, we have potential adopters meet and greet the rescues outside, allowing the dogs to relax. We take them out on repeated walks to ease any stress as well as provide constant attention. Often if appointments are scheduled we take the dogs out of their crate and allow them to decompress before meeting their potential parents. 

But at the Moorpark Fair, dogs will remain outside the crates and constantly with their volunteer allowing for a more relaxed natural atmosphere allowing potential adopters to see the rescue as they truly are. This type of adoption event is much more "labor intensive", asking a lot more of the BF volunteers. Fortunately for BF, quite a few volunteers and foster parents live in the valley and are able to attend. Their participation is essential in making the event possible and it is for that reason BF thought it best to have the event only once a month.

Adoption Fair dates are also based on park availability and for that reason the dates are determined only a month in advance. Some of the dates will coincide with the Santa Monica Fair dates and others will not. It is important to check our website for the Moorpark Fair dates.
