More Dog Treats

Remember when you're cooking for your dog, steer clear of using ingredients that are toxic to him or her such as chocolate, coffee, citrus oils, grapes/raisins, macadamia nuts, walnuts, mushrooms and onions.

Doggy Pizza

Try this easy but tasty pizza made especially for dogs that's sure to be an instant hit.Homemade dogpizza

For the dough/crust you will need:

    - 3 1/4 cup flour
    - 1/4 cup cornmeal
    - 1 tsp. baking soda
    - 1 cup warm water

For the toppings you will need:

    - 1/2 cup tomato paste
    - 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
    - 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese
    - A handful of chopped mushrooms

First, preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit, then combine the crust ingredients in a mixing bowl, kneading together until a dough has formed. Form the dough into the shape of a bone if you'd like to be a little extra creative.

Combine the ingredients for the topping in another bowl, mixing well before spreading onto the dough . Using a pizza pan, bake for 20 to 30 minutes at 325 degrees. Then, cool the oven off a bit to 200 degrees, and bake again for another 10 minutes.

Cool before serving or before cutting into pieces. This doggy pizza should last for a few days, giving you plenty of time to make another!

 

Barkerrific Treats

For this treat you will need:

    - 3 cups whole wheat flour
    - 1/2 cup powdered milk
    - 1 egg, beaten
    - 1/3 cup margarine or oleo
    - 3/4 cup meat broth or hot water
    - 1/2 tbsp. salt

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees and grease a baking pan. Combine in a large bowl, first the margarine, then the hot broth or water, and then the powdered milk, salt, and egg.

Gradually add 1/2 cup of the flour while stirring, continuously kneading until a stiff dough forms. Roll the dough until it's about a half inch thick, and then cut into bones or other shapes. Bake for about 45 to 55 minutes and completely cool before rewarding your dog with these delicious homemade dog treats.

Homemade cheese puffsFishnickity Patties

Another of the quickest and easiest recipes for homemade dog treats uses some tuna, eggs, and flour. Combine two cans of tuna with two eggs and three cups of flour in a mixing bowl.

Form into patties baking at a low temperature for an hour or so. This treat takes less than ten minutes to make, and it's especially healthy for dogs suffering from kidney disease, but any dog should sit up and beg for these tasty little cakes.

 

Baby Bites

    3 Jars of baby food, chicken or turkey
    1/2 cup cream of wheat
    1/2 cup dry milk powder

Preheat oven to 350 degrees, mix all ingredients together, roll into balls, press flat with a fork.

Bake on well greased cookie sheet for 15 minutes.

Store in freezer. treats freezes very well.

Instead of using cream of wheat you can substitute with wheat germ.
