Meet Mouse, our little Star!
We are very excited to share that one of our Bill Foundation Alums, Toffee, now named Mouse, was asked to take part in filming a PSA
titled "Adopt A Chihuahua" for Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. The PSA was filmed in anticipation of the effect the movie Beverly Hills Chihuahua will have on the Chihuahua population in city shelters
and rescues.
Breeders and puppy mills have begun a massive breeding campaign in hopes that the movie will drive up sales of Chihuahuas much like what happened after
101 Dalmatians and Beethoven. The PSA explores the underbelly of the mass breeding facilities and highlights how many wonderful Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes can
be found at your local pounds and rescue groups just like the Bill Foundation.
Mouse was rescued by the Bill Foundation last
December. She had been picked up as a stray by Pasadena Humane Society and after no one claimed her we were called in to help. Mouse was in pretty rough shape, she was very thin, only 2.15 lbs! She had
a skin condition covering most of her body and like many shelter pups, she had developed an upper respiratory infection. We immediately called one of
our volunteer/fosters to see if she had room and luckily she did. Only a few short days later the foster called to say she wanted to adopt her and we were ecstatic.
After putting some weight on and clearing up her skin, Mouse was finally able to be spayed and immediately took the world by storm. This little girl, she weighs in at a whopping 3.5 lbs., loves
to play with toys, run around like a wild animal (prompting her Mom to call her Mouse the Maniac), pester her big brothers like any rotten little sister, and patrol the neighborhood looking
for new doggy pals to bark at. She, along with her 3 rescue brothers, Buddy a Doxie/Chi mix, Tiny Tim a Chi mix and Vito a Beagle/Corgi mix, all help their mom acclimate new fosters and
rescues and are always on the look out for ways to help in the rescue community.

Mouse and her brother Tiny Tim in particular attend many rescue events, not only promoting rescue and the work the Bill Foundation does but they serve as ambassadors of the Chihuahua breed. They prove
to the community that you can in fact find a "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" in a shelter near you.
