Schulman Pups
Located on Sepulveda in West Los Angeles is Animal
Medical Center. Home to one of rescue's best friends, Dr. Alan Schulman.
Rescue is nothing new to Dr. Schulman. His practice has helped many of the rescues located in the Los Angeles area.
Now he is showing his support for rescue in two very big ways. Meet Schlomo & Schpilkes, two of the most loveable, adorable, biggest rescue puppies that have
come through the doors of Bill Foundation.
These two captured the heart of Dr. Schulman's son, Andrew, while Bill Foundation was boarding them at Animal Medical Center. Dr. Schulman
confessed that his heart melted when his son came to him with that look on his face . . . he knew he
couldn't say no. Schlomo & Schpilkes were two siblings of a five puppy litter that had been rescued by Bill Foundation from the city shelter. Their mother gave birth in December.
All five puppies were being cared for at Animal Medical Center. Schulman admitted he considered
taking all five but since the puppies would eventually grow to 85 lbs he felt that might be a little overwhelming for his home (anyone remember the movie, Beethoven?).
Schlomo & Schpilkes at 11 weeks already weigh 23 lbs and have the big puppy paws to prove that Dr. Schulman knows these are going to be two very big dogs. BF suspects that
they are at least part New Foundland, a very large working class dog. But for these two, it's all fun and games and work seems a very distant possibility at this time.
Schpilkes (which is ansy in Yiddish) is the active one of the pair. He seems to never stop moving admitted Dr. Schulman. He is always running, playing and getting into all sorts of
mischief. Schlomo is the more quiet of the pair and prefers a tummy rub or cuddle session. They live at home with his other dog, Aspen, another rescue helped by Dr. Schulman. She was
found on the streets of Aspen, Colorado by the doctor, hence the name. "She has taken on the role of mother" said Dr. Schulman
and is helping to socialize and teach the dogs proper house behavior. The two have already learned the doggy door thanks to Aspen and the two have not had one accident in the house – way to go Aspen!
